This is a new low-tech approach for haptic feedback that can be used for both VR as well as desktop-based games. Rumble Hack introduces body haptics through the low-tech re-appropriation of a wireless gamepad controller. Knowing that a large percentage of VR and PC gamers already have access to a game controller with haptic response, we built a system that converts audio amplitude to vibrotactile feedback on the controller. We also built an SDK that gives game developers more control over the creation of this vibrotactile feedback. Using the Rumble Hack, players can bring a new dimension of interaction to their games with little effort.
